Does Luminex fabric emit its own light or is it a reflective material?
The fabric transmits and emits light. It is a non-reflective material
What are the maximum dimensions that a single fabric can reach?
Presently the dimensions are H130/H180 and variable.
Can the fabric be cut and/or extended through junction or conjunctions of more fabric?
Yes, like any fabric. In regards to the clothing, Luminex uses the same appliqué of traditional fabric. But compared to them if offers many other unlimited applications for the human imagination.
How the fabric is electrically supplied?
Luminex can be supplied directly by 200/120 volt using a small transformer, i.e. mobile phone battery charger. Both rechargeable and traditional batteries can be used in special applications to provide high performance lighting, i.e. clothes or any other mobile item.
The battery is inserted in the most practical available housing for the manufactured item, i.e. in a pair of jeans the housing is usually a small pocket on the right side of the trouser.
Does the fabric need any special machines to be cut or sewn?
No special machines are necessary to work with the fabric. In any case during the manufacturing process it is necessary to observe some basic rules.
Can I switch the light of the optical fabric on or off when I want?
Yes, all our items include an on/off switch allowing you to control when you want the optical fabric to be lit.
Is there any risk of electrical shock wearing the luminous clothes, do they heat up?
All our wearable items are powered by low voltage batteries (3V or 4.5V), so there is absolutely no risk of electrical shock. The fiber optics fabric does not heat up when it is lighted.
Is the light of the optical fabric clearly visible in broad daylight?
The light emitted by the fiber optics fabric is hardly visible in direct sunlight or broad daylight. The effect is best noticed in dark settings.
What are the instructions for handling the fiber optic fabric?
The fiber optic fabric has common synthetic fabrics woven together with the optic fibers.
However, unlike other synthetic fabrics, you should never fold the optic fiber fabric perpendicularly to the optical fibers, otherwise this may permanently damage or break the optical fibers.
The fiber optic fabric can be folded (with care) parallel to the optical fibers.
If you don't know or are unsure about the position of the optical fibers in the fabric, then do not fold it at all.
How can I wash my clothes and accessories made of fiber optic fabric?
The Fiber Optic Fabric can be gently hand washed with water up to 70°C and natural soap. The batteries must be always removed prior to washing.
If possible, do not immerse the battery box, even if the batteries have been removed.
The Fiber Optic Fabric must not be washed in washing machine, folded (pressed), machine dried or ironed. The fabric should not be dry cleaned.
In order to smooth your fiber optic clothe out, simply place it on a clothes hanger after washing out.
